The number of melanoma cells between Asians and Caucasians are almost the same, but the ability to create melanin of Asians is faster and more, making its easier to be tanned. Beside, the UV become serious due to pollution and damage of the environment result in the more skin problems. Therefore, the issue of skin whitening and demand of sunscreen become more and more important. The following are some whitening knowledge:

1. When the skin expose to ultraviolet light, UVB will destroy the cell DNA and even cause skin cancer. Besides, the cells will release the damaged DNA fragment, interleukins, histamine and other signal substance to the melanoma cells result in produce large amounts of melanin when cells are subjected to UV irradiation for protection of skin cells. Therefore, the use of sunscreen products or physical sun protection measures will reduce this situation.

2. When the skin has been exposed to ultraviolet light, the cells produce inflammatory signals to melanocytes to produce melanin in the basal layer. Therefore, the use of the appropriate product containing decreased inflammatory signal features such as Aloe, Chamomile,
Licorice Root Extract and other active ingredients to reduce the number of melanin production.

3. The melanocytes is one of the crucial factor which makes skin darkening in the basal layer and the tyrosinase is the important enzyme in the formation of melanin. If the enzyme is deactivated, the synthesis of melanin will be shut down. Besides, the enzyme was activated by copper ions. If the copper ions are chelated, the enzyme will be inactivated. The production of melanin will be decreased by occupying the position of tyrosinase. For example, the use of Kojic Acid, Arbutin, Vitamin C, AA2G, Tranexamic Acid, Green Tea Polyphenols and other whitening substances are able to reduce the melanin production.

4. The natural oxidation is also accounted for a very important reason in the formation of melanin, it makes melanin getting bigger and darker. The proper usage of antioxidants such as vitamin C, AA2G, flavonoids and polyphenols can reduce the formation of melanin.

5. The melanin can be divided into eumelanin and pheomelanin. The color of pheomelanin is lighter than eumelanin. Therefore, the use of products containing glutathione can make the spots look lighter.
